Wild Bill Williams found his asteriod

For the readers of the Science Fiction classic Lensman series, by E. E. Smith PHD, a bit of unbelievable Fiction has turned to reality. Or at least it seems so.

In the heart of the series, the dashing hero, Kimball Kinnison, goes undercover as a "meteor miner", looking for valuable asteroids to sell for the metal they contain. Meteor miners, like prospectors throughout time, were always looking for the "big one" to make them rich.

Delicious silly fiction, until. . .

It looks like we found one. Now all we have to do is figure out how to get it back to earth. . .

(I assume that the valuable metals have been shown by spectrography. . . )

My first thought is mining Psyche would be a very bad thing today.
We need a whole new economy first.
Good thing the ones we can mine in the next few decades are less valuable.

250 years ago aluminum was more expensive than silver, 2500 years ago salt (sodium chloride) was pretty expensive. Cheap gold and platinum would be great. It's not like it won't take a while to move the stuff in volume at low cost, not to speak of being able to do it at all.

Bad idea. Someone would screw it up and it would come in dinosaur-style

Something that size would make the dinosaur extinction look like a picnic. Fortunately, it will be a long time before anyone can control enough energy to bring in the whole thing.

Aluminium wasn't discovered until 1807 (Humphrey Davy), but yeah, it was used in jewelry and stuff like that in the beginning.

The aluminum pyramid on the top of the Washington monument weighs about 2.83kg (100 ounces) and was displayed at Tiffany's before being placed at the top of the structure.

The trivia you remember from high school...

They used to let you walk up and down the stairs if you did not want to ride the elevator. Now days you can only use the elevator. Some of the stones were presented by states and groups that were carved out. The State of Oregon donated a stone that was carved out and the scene depicted was a family on the Oregon Trail. it was complete with the figures and a Conestoga Wagon being pulled by Oxen. Unfortunately people had broken off the heads to take as souvenirs. And people wonder why they do not let you use the stairs any more.
