Wild Bill Williams found his asteriod
For the readers of the Science Fiction classic Lensman series, by E. E. Smith PHD, a bit of unbelievable Fiction has turned to reality. Or at least it seems so.
In the heart of the series, the dashing hero, Kimball Kinnison, goes undercover as a "meteor miner", looking for valuable asteroids to sell for the metal they contain. Meteor miners, like prospectors throughout time, were always looking for the "big one" to make them rich. Delicious silly fiction, until. . . https://www.foxnews.com/science/nasa...-a-billionaire It looks like we found one. Now all we have to do is figure out how to get it back to earth. . . (I assume that the valuable metals have been shown by spectrography. . . ) |

My first thought is mining Psyche would be a very bad thing today.
We need a whole new economy first. Good thing the ones we can mine in the next few decades are less valuable. |

250 years ago aluminum was more expensive than silver, 2500 years ago salt (sodium chloride) was pretty expensive. Cheap gold and platinum would be great. It's not like it won't take a while to move the stuff in volume at low cost, not to speak of being able to do it at all.
