In response to #1, are you asking how to change the author from:
a) John Smith to Sally Johnson; b) John Smith to Smith, John; or c) John SMITH to John Smith (or any other spelling correction)? |

You are on the Search and replace tab, just use the first tab to simply SET the correct language, publisher... You can also ADD or REMOVE tags this way

I selected all books (687) noted as "English", right-clicked in the window, chose "Edit metadata in blulk":
![]() then in "Search field", I clicked on "languages", in "Search for" I wrote "English" and in "Replace with", I wrote "French" ! ![]() Then I clicked on APPLY and OK ! But... when I went back to the list, the 687 would be "English" books were still there ! I tried exit the software and run it again, but... no change ! The "Edit Metadata Information" thing isn't user friendly IMO... maybe because I'm not of english mothertongue... ![]() |

Looking at your screen, I don't see that you're really made any change (unless it's before you finish with the replace string). And, if you have problem with the language of the interface, why don't you use calibre in French?

Instead of using the S&R screen, just use the main MDE screen.
You have already selected what books you want with the first step (img 1) |

Select the books on you want to change the Author, tap 'E', and in Basic metadata->Author(s) field either type, or select from the drop down, the author name you want.
OR - if you want to change all the books by Donald Duck to Mickey Mouse, right click Donald Duck in the Tag browser (left sidebar), select Rename Donald Duck, and then type Mickey Mouse. BR |

Yes, that is the screen.
Unless it says remove (Tags), it is an automatic replace. Since the original selection should ONLY be those to be changed. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can use this by itself to get rid of those ugly RED Author sort boxes (even with a mix of Authors AS LONG AS to other data fields are used (Tags are allowed) Tags has an ADD box, and a REMOVE box. you can Add and delete at the same time |

Thanks guys ! Now, one question and two bugs:
How do I do to bulk clear "ids" ? ![]() I can clear them one by one, but I havent found a way to do it in BULK ! Now, the BUGS: when editing metadata book after book, I haven't found the keys shortcuts for the underlined "P" and "N" for "Previous" and "Next" ! I must use the mouse ! Is it me or is it a bug in the software ? ![]() ![]() J-P. |

According to the info shown when I hover over the Previous/Next buttons, alt+left and alt+right is what you need.
