There's no way to change it, but you will find that its appearance does vary with the lighting conditions. Outdoors, in sunlight, it does look almost white, whereas under artificial light it looks greyer.

thank you very much for quick response. OK i will test it then in the sunlight. Another question: have you got experience with additional led clip-on lights or sth like that to make it possibile to use prs-505 in bed ?

I don't personally use them - I prefer a reading lamp, but many people do use them and will, I'm sure, be happy to give you advice.

You basically have two options - the "clip-on" style of light, or the "illuminated cover" which Sony sell as an accessory for the 505, which is (as its name suggests) a cover for the 505 with a row of LEDs down the side, powered by batteries in the "spine" of the cover.

If you look in the "Reader Accessories" sub-forum you'll find lots of discussion about both these options.

If you don't mind your wife laughing at you, I find that one of the miner-style headlamps works quite well for reading in bed.

My husband keeps trying to get me to use his, despite the fact it throws out far more light than my little clip on booklight, and so disturbs him a lot more!

The little clip on light works fine for me

That's a good point - I should have remembered those, since I have one myself, with a red LED, that I use for astronomy (red light doesn't spoil your night vision).

Sadly there isn't, you only get three settings Small Medium and Large. If I use a PDF I often change the format before I load it onto the device (when the PDF is something I have created) - The alternative is to change the format by moving what you want to read to another format such as LRF or otherwise f it is text only. - Calibre does an excellent job of this - see the Calibre section on this forum.

If the PDF is password protected I am afraid you are stuck with the copy you have (unless you do something dodgy with it - hint hint)

The Mighty Bright XTRAFLEX Duet LED Music Light light is supposed to be good because you can position the two heads for an even coverage of light without light or dark spots.
