So I'm having consistent problems with the pen function on my DR.
Try this: 1.Running on battery: use your touchscreen/pen= works, right? 2. Now with the unit still ON pug it into a charger or computer with USB (as I do when I'm running low on battery) 3. Say "No" to the transferring file to your computer dialog box 4. Try using your pen/touchscreen to continue working= it stops working completely on my unit EVERY time consistently. My buttons still work for basic navigation but the touchscreen stops and will not start working without a reboot. Anyone else have this problem? I've got the latest firmware. I really hate this bug... I run out of power and want to hook up but then it stops the touchscreen! ?? Ms. Valky |

Hi Valky,
My pen often does stop responding but not after plugging the DR1000S in like you described. My pen stops working after the reader wakes up from sleep mode. I usually find navigating to Settings|Personal Preferences, switching the stylus off, selecting "Save & Close" and then switching the stylus on again will fix this problem. Unfortunately if you have switched the buttons off there is no way to navigate so a reset is the only option. |

First Test
I have performed the tests as described. Test 2 was performed with the DR1000 connected to my PC via usb and also with it plugged into a charger.
The pen worked fine in all cases, I was able to activate buttons and write on an Xournal pad. However, my device was almost fully charged and this could have a bearing on the test. I will let the device discharge its battery and repeat the tests but this will take a couple of days. I am on version 1.5 of the firmware. |

My pen worked fine when plugged in and charging. In the early days it was frequently used like that. However, my DR1000 is now back at irex to sort out the pen not responding issue that became apparent after V1.5 adn I haven't got it back since.
You too may have a hardware problem, raise a ticket and see what they say. |

My united died completely and would not boot when the AC adapter was plugged in however it DID boot when I hooked it up to my laptop USB/power. Maybe it is the power adapter. I bought it along with my reader from e-reader outfitters. Can you suggest a really quality adapter to try? I would have thought e-reader outfitters would sell a good one...maybe not? Thanks! |

Given the number of issues there have been with these chargers, I think it would be a good idea to start a wiki listing brands that people have tried, and what the results where (similar to the SD/CF memory compatibility wiki for the iLiad). I don't have time right now to work on it, but I might be able to start putting something together later, or someone else can take a shot at it. |

I've used the Tekkeon wall charger as well as the mobile battery pack without any problems. My experience with the battery pack is similar to previous discussions.

My adapter that I also bought from ereader outfiters completely stopped working. I have read somewhere that the adapter they sell dosen't have enough power to charge the DR. I have not had my pen to stop working, at lest not that I remember, but I have had the lights come on and not go off until I reboot it. The device seems to be have plenty of bugs, but I can live with that. When I plug into a computer it usually does fine. ![]() |
