changing metadata.db to WAL mode?

i read on reddit, quite old thread..
there someone recommended sqlite journal mode to WAL to make performance boost ?

i read a little about and it's easy to change it on DBBrowser..
but i dont know if there is pro n cons about that.

any opinion.. should do, should not or maybe useless?

I benchmarked it a longtime ago, when it was first released, and it didn't make much difference to calibre performance (calibre mostly operates on an in memory copy of the database, so there is very little read/write contention).

Turning it on means that in whatever calibre version it is turned on, it will no longer be safe to downgrade to previous versions which IMO is not worth it.
