Kindle store & whispersync for voice

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been addressed already.

When I look at the kindle store on the internet (ie on my phone or laptop, in the product details section for a book it’s clear whether a title has “whispersync for voice” or an audio companion available for purchase. You can then choose to just buy the book, or add the audio also.

Is it just me, or is this information not possible to see on the kindle store when viewing on the kindle device itself?

I often buy books directly from the kindle device, and would really like to see the full product info to see if there’s the option to add the audio companion (through the audible and/or kindle app for iPad and iPhone)...

That info & option is not visible on Kindle eInk version of the Kindle Store. At least not on firmware 5.8.11.
For Kindle eInk devices "built-in" Kindle Store view uses basically an older version of mobile version of Amazon website (since now even the mobile view of Kindle Store section has that option for adding Audible edition when buying Kindle edition/ ebook).

I've just checked and Kindle for Android app displays "Add Audible book to your purchase for just N $" checkbox, so if iOS version also has that then you can use your iPhone for buying ebook + audiobook combo.

It should be much faster and less irritating experience than trying to open "full"/desktop/computer version of Amazon website in Kindle device's experimental web browser (assuming that it can render the page properly).

I just checked the store on my Oasis 2 and I have the ability to purchase the book and audio companion

Seems reasonable enough that the ability to buy the audiobook is only available on devices which support audio, given that buying a book from a device will (by default, at least) download it to that device.

This option is new in firmware 5.9.x. (And I wish I could turn it off: the UI has gone a bit Audible-crazy even though I have no plans ever to use it.)

I have no plans to update my PW3 to firmware 5.9.x. The jury is still out on whether I'll eventually downgrade back to firmware 5.6.5 (I have rescue pack installed so I can downgrade).

Which device are you seeing this on NullNix? I have version 5.9.2 on my paper white and still no audible or audio companion mention.

This is on Kindles with Audible feature: Kindle (basic 8th gen), Oasis 1, and Oasis 2. Paperwhite and Voyage do not have Audible feature.

I wish they would include whether audio companion is available (and price) even on Kindles which cannot play Audible. I purchase a fair number of books on my Voyage, and later read them on my phone.
