PW3 updated to 5.9.2.0.1 - no issues
I just updated my jailbroken PW3 to 5.9.2.0.1 without any issue.

Then reinstalled python, screen savers hack etc via ;log mrpi

Screensavers in cover mode work fine, tested on a new book too.

The only thing that comes to mind, in this specific case, is that I first re-applied the newest Snapshots of NiLuJe's hacks from https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=225030, just to be sure to have everything updated before the upgrade. Then I upgraded the kindle, and finally, I re-installed the same hacks.

in my mrpackages i had (all nov.27 version):
Update_crp_2.N_install
Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.14.N_install
Update_KUALBooklet_v2.7.2_install
Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3
Update_python_0.14.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3
Update_rp_20131220.N_install
Update_usbnet_0.21.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3

probably that was not needed, but until you figure a pattern that was exactly what I did.

Talking No issues, suffered OTA update
I wasn't aware of the problems, connected to WiFi, updated, but everything is okay!

PW3 WiFi ; no offers ; passcode installed ; jailbreak installed, cannot remember original firmware (5.7x or 5.8x), OTA block applied (folder?); Cowards rescue pack applied

G090 G1

OTA Update to:
5.9.2.0.1 3262860017

bug: KUAL disabled

Solution:
Copied python, usbnet, screensavers, KUAL, fonts bins to /mrpackages
In search bar:
Code:
;log mrpi
Result:
Very slow reinstall of relevant packages, then, boom, everything works INCLUDING KUAL

Running KUAL v2.7.2-gea85a19 (20171125,g)

Happy to help diagnose however I can. Note: I did not reapply either the hotfix OR the max(?) Hotfix. Do I need to?

Those where originally for people who felt they had to press "Reset".
(Reset removes everything **except** our package signature certificate.)

Since it does no harm to apply it even when it is not needed, people have used it for any problem without a clear solution.
That is also why you do not need MrPI to install the (new - coplate's) "hotfix" package.
You can place it in the top level of visible storage and either use UYK or just re-boot into it.
I.E: Its only dependency is that the Kindle still have our signature certificate (a.k.a: jail break) installed.

So you didn't have to copy over the newer kfxmeta.py to get screensaver to work in cover mode?

It case it helps; I had no problem neither upgrading a jailbroken PW3 from 3_5.7.4_initial to 5.9.2.0.1 (3262860017) using the kindle autoupdate / wifi system.

The reason I ask this is that cover mode no longer works for me after the OTA upgrade to 5.9.2.0.1 (3262860017). I did the same as you did (with the error of first installing the wrong device version of python & screensavers before then installing the correct version...) However I now get the "failed to process cover" message whenever I open a book. Thinking of just resetting my PW3 and starting all over again unless anyone has any other ideas.

@RandomGiraffe I just manually updated mine to 5.9.4 without any issue (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=294689). I don't think resetting a jailbroken kindle is a good idea.

Perhaps you have an obsolete version of MRPI itself. Try downloading NiLuJe snapshot version labeled "MobileRead Package Instaler" from here. Inside your Kindle /extensions folder, remove MRInstaller folder, and replace it with the same folder from the snapshot version.
