Search files inside Calibre

Hello Kovid,
Many thanks for having received my last suggestion.
If I can, I would like to submit another idea to improve your already fantastic program more and more:
When you search files with different title, author and so on (especially if you've many files), it's difficult to see all the files that match your request, because they're scattered in the library. Can I suggest to compact all the files highlighted in green?
Thank you very much.
I wish you and all people that work at this project a very good job.
Gianni

This feature is already in calibre. Go to Preferences > Searching:

"Highlight search results instead of restricting book list to the results".

If this is selected, you get highlighted "scattered" results. If not selected, you get restricted "compact" results. You want the restricted results.

(I'm using an older version of calibre, but I'm sure your version has a similar option).

@gianni_fed - see ==>> How to fix Search showing all books with matches highlighted

Tip : before posting a question, check the sticky threads at the top of the sub-forums to see if there's a solution already defined.

And before posting an answer, an old-timer like me should do the same thing.
BR, thanks for the reminder.

Hello,
Many thanks for your answers!
I would like also to say that, if someone ask me about something that I know, I'll be happy to answer and to help him, I'll never answer "study and search about yourself the answer! It is only a question of availability to others and courtesy.
Please, remember that no one is a God....
I hope to have not stolen too much of your precious time...
