Free (Kindle) Dakota Manhunt by John Glasby [Reluctant Sheriff vs Outlaws Western]

Dakota Manhunt by the late British author John Glasby (ISFDB, Wikipedia, obituary at The Telegraph) is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, this one the tale of an embittered man with an unfortunate incident in his past, who reluctantly takes on a town sheriff job and rapidly becomes fed up with it, but must keep things from becoming personal, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1965 by John Spencer using the pseudonym Chuck Adams and was later reprinted by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym Alan T. Leacroft.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program)

Description
Forced to kill a man, Clint McCorg has never been the same.

He had no choice in the matter, but that hasn’t stopped him becoming a bitter and fierce person few dare to cross.

So when Vendado, a town rapidly hurtling towards lawlessness, is in need of a new sheriff, he seems the perfect – if reluctant – man to whip it back into shape.

It’s far from smooth running, with petty crimes and ranch rustling rife throughout the town.

But when three innocent men are kidnapped and murdered, McCorg has had enough.

It falls to him to go after the ruthless killers, who are determined to make his life as difficult as possible.

It’s a tough enough job as it is, but for McCorg, it becomes personal.

Can he let go of his feelings for the sake of the job?
