Library Restore?
Good Morning.
I recently did an update on Calibre, and noticed that all my books were gone. Somehow they were all moved into an archive folder. I moved them all back into the proper directory (Calibre Library), and assumed that Calibre would automatically recognize them, and re-populate the library. That did not happen. I have re added a couple books as a test, but they populate with the details (author, title etc) all messed up. I have spent many hours organizing all my books with proper data, and would not like to have to re-do all that work. Does anyone know a way to automatically get this fixed? Looking into the Calibre Library directory, each book folder contains various versions of the book file (mobi, pdf, etc) possibly a cover jpg, and a metadata file. Any help would be appreciated. |

And if you want to re-import the books from a old calibre library folder into a new library, you can right click the add books button and choose (Add from directories, one book per directory) |

Maybe you forgot to copy the file metadata.db and metadata_db_prefs_backup.json in the root of your library folder.
If you don't have these two files but all book sub directoriesin your library directory, you can try to make a library maintenance ->restore database. With this option the database will be rebuild from the saved metadata file metadata.opf of each single book directory. Take a look on calibre manual too. https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...libre-is-blank Edit: Kovid was faster... ![]() |

Thanks Guys,
That got the books all back, and included a large quantity of the data. There are still things that need fixing, but the work level will now be much less. Joshua |

You might want to figure what moved and tampered with your library to prevent it happening again, I doubt it was calibre itself or the install. Which OS and which version are you using? BR |

Calibre Library should never be run while the Library folder is Enabled for Sync. Always pause synch or bad things (changes fight
