Device bricked?

Hello.
I had read book at night, when I tried to change page the device reset itself.
I waited a while and pushed power button for reset, because start screen does not show.

I think it was a firmware upgrading, but it was dark I don't noticed it.

Now I can't start Aura and can't connect to computer.

How can I rescue my eBook Reader?

What is on the screen now, and what happens when you try to turn it on? Does the power LED do anything.

The things to try are:
  • Charge the device and try to turn it on.
  • Force a power off by holding the power switch in the off position for 20 seconds and turning on.
  • Factory reset using the instructions on https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kobo_Reset:_Aura_H2O
  • Restore an image to the internal SD card. For the Aura H2O, this is the last resort as it breaks the waterproofing.

Also, "can't connect to computer" is expected. The Kobo devices don't automatically connect, so if one is detected by the computer, then it is probably a bad sign.

Factory reset by pressing bottom corners worked for me. I have to repeat few times. Oh I am happy to bring device to life.

After hard reset, the device asked me for connect to computer and then for WiFi connection. Why that ? It is always needed to download latest firmware?

Glad it worked. And yes, tapping the corners is a pain. I've never gotten it right the first time.

A "factory reset" is exactly that. It resets the device to the out of factory state. That includes reverting it to the firmware that was installed in the factory. Then it does the same setup which includes looking for and downloading the latest firmware available to the device.
