Free (Kindle) Close Call by Clinton Spurr [Framed Fugitive vs Stealth Killer Western]
Close Call by Clinton Spurr, a pseudonym for prolific multi-genre British author Donald S. Rowland (ISFDB, SFE, Fantastic Fiction), is his vintage standalone western historical action novel, this one the tale of a fugitive man framed for murder who emerges from hiding after learning of a threat to his father, only to encounter resistance from the locals as the killer continues killing, leaving him no choice but to go after a ruthless murderer whose schemes he may not survive, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.
This was originally published in 1974 by A. Wheaton & Co. Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else worldwide that Amazon sells, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program) Description A fight to the death… After eight months in hiding after being framed for murder, Dane Lassiter hears that his father is in danger and decides that now’s the time to make a reappearance. Before long it seems that the whole town of Pommel is against him and want nothing more than to see him dead for a crime that he did not commit. In trying to get to the bottom of the situation, he is faced against a ruthless killer who has no qualms with murdering anyone who dares get in his way. Lassiter tries to prove his innocence and gathers support from the few loyal friends he has left in the county. Together they try and save those in danger and prevent anymore killings. As events unravel however, they soon realise that they’ve underestimated the killer and his ruthless schemes. They fight for survival as Lassiter longs to be with his one true love, Paula, but will he be able to walk free in Pommel again and make sure his friends get out alive? One things for certain, it’s going to be a Close Call if Lassiter lives or dies… |
