Is it possible to enable full screen mode on H2O and One?
Is it possible to enable full screen mode on H2O and Aura One (lastest firmware)?
Which is it te best way to enable it? I have read about a little "tweak" which needs to edit the eReader.config file and changing the value "FullScreenReading" to "true". Is it safe? Thx! |

That is the only way to do it, and it is completely safe.

Short answer, yes in my case it can be done, no idea if it's safe.
I recently updated to 4.3.8966 with my H2O, (although I think there's been an even more recent update. Anyway, yesterday, throwing caution to the wind, I added a couple of lines in the reader's config file, resulting in the option in the reading settings to go full screen. That worked, but I then experienced the clipping of letters on the right side (which apparently is a known and expected bug with kepubs). The workaround I used was to add a css file in the root directory which adjusts the margins when you use Calibre and the extended kobo driver (with Modify option set) to send kepubs to H2O. (I understand there isn't a clipping problem if you just use epubs rather than kepubs.) Now, I'd give you details about all that except I'm a "hacker novice" and I really don't know if I did any of it correctly. Just picked up scraps from various threads here... --- Christian Szell: Is it safe?... Is it safe? Babe: You're talking to me? Christian Szell: Is it safe? Babe: Is what safe? Christian Szell: Is it safe? Babe: I don't know what you mean. I can't tell you something's safe or not, unless I know specifically what you're talking about. Christian Szell: Is it safe? Babe: Tell me what the "it" refers to. Christian Szell: Is it safe? Babe: Yes, it's safe, it's very safe, it's so safe you wouldn't believe it. Christian Szell: Is it safe? Babe: No. It's not safe, it's... very dangerous, be careful. |

It removes the header, book title, and footer, page number, giving more of your screen real estate to the text. In full screen mode, I think you have to bring up the menu and click on page turning in order to see current page and total pages.

I use fullscreen, but I do get occasionally text lost (the last line of text on the page / first line of text on the next page, depending how you look at it). I posted a repro a while back, which still repros under the latest firmware on the KA1, but was told very firmly that since full screen mode isn't supported, no-one was interested ;-)

Fullscreen mode doesnt work any more, neither does accurately displaying your reading activity. How do employees spend their time at HQ? Do they do any work, I wonder?!?

Fullscreen mode is not an officially supported function. Kobo can decide to ignore any complaints about it. If you saw the problem you described in a epub using the standard epub reader, it would be a bug they need to fix. If you reported it with a reproducible case, sooner or later they would fix it. If you report a problem with fullscreen mode, the response would probably be that there is no fullscreen mode. And hence, they would have no way to accept the bug report and no real responsibility to fix it. |

The causality is there yes, but once you tweak the settings the issue wont pop up again unless you change the settings again. Even then it's only certain line spacing settings along with certain font sizes that triggers the oddity of a line of text appearing cut off at the bottom of the page and being the top line of the next page.
