Is Glo HD to Refurbed Voyage Worth It?
Primarily desiring some sense of buttons even though page press is just vibration feedback and an Oasis is overpriced
Voyage runs at a total of $175 for a Refurbished model. Id like to sell my Glo Hd for $120 with sleep cover ideally. But is the flush screen and page press worth the upgrade? Ill miss the font options, font sizes, and reading stats on the Glo HD but I love the Kindle UI and hate swiping the screen |

For the rest, it depends on your needs. For me, as a Kobo user, the ability to adjust font options and the freedom of not having to rely on Calibre conversion to read all book formats is essential and I wouldn't exchange my reader for a Kindle. Then again, I've only used a friend's PW and I dodn't like the UI and the reading settings were too poor for me. |

I have and use both the Glo HD and the Voyage. I see no need to settle for just one. I side load all my books except for the Kindle Unlimited titles I read. Also my Voyage is customized with my favorite font. I like it very much and lately have tended to use it more than my Glo HD.
Yes I love the flush screen, I bought the Voyage after I broke my original Kobo Aura, which was a similar size and had a flush screen. I also love the page press and the automatic light adjustment. Last edited by booklover6; 02-11-2017 at 08:04 PM. |

I also prefer the Voyage over the GLO HD, so much so that I sold the GLO HD.

I would say Glo HD to Voyage is not an upgrade. It's more of diagonally downward side-grade.

The Voyage comes in a metal chassis and has buttons and a flat-screen. It has less font options, and thinner fonts. It has the Amazon store instead of the Kobo store. The Kobo front-light is probably more uniform, but that's a lottery, and you may not be that sensitive. Your call really.

If you decide you prefer the Voyage, see how much you can get for your Glo HD. It may be less than you'd like and you can't make a rational decision until you know what your true net outlay will be. Just as a rule of thumb, I think people tend to over-value their used devices. And don't forget to add in the cost of a cover for the Voyage.

Thanks friends
I think I may keep both What do you mean voyage is a downgrade?? My biggest fear is that Ill get a bad screen. Since I am fetting a refurbished model, what if its one where people returned noticeably uneven screens with two tone gradients? |

I mean that I think that the Glo HD is better than the Voyage.

There is no telling, until you receive it. At that point, evaluate whether or not an subtle grading will detract from your reading experience, or not.

Remember the 30 day return policy on the gradient. I would have sworn I posted in this thread previously. Oh well I love my kindles. Last edited by Cinisajoy; 02-12-2017 at 01:09 PM. |

Thanks
Do all kindles have this gradient problem? Its bizarre to me that this is a thing on a premium device Ill try it for 30 days. The problem is I am buying from the US but live in canada so Im worried about the return policy |

Some opinions are more informed and nuanced than others, and it's usually obvious which are which. But it would be better either to criticize the opinion as stated or to let it speak for itself rather than to try to undermine the poster. |

I can well believe it; Kindles have by far the better name recognition. I'm just speaking generally, in that it seems to me people expect more for their used devices than I think they're worth. But if they can get it, good for them.
