Books sent from Calibre not displaying on Kindle Paperwhite

Hello.

I have used Calibre with my kindle for years without any problems at all. It has been a pleasure.

However, after reinstalling Windows yesterday (for a completely unrelated reason) and installing Calibre 2.79.1, I've been having trouble. I don't know if this is related to the latest Calibre version because I was using a much older one before.

When I send books to the device they show up in the list under the "device" button in Calibre with a green tick next to them. They also show up in the kindle "documents" folder. But I can't find them anywhere on the Kindle.

I have tried things like changing to "All Items" and made sure it was set to "On Device." That was the basic advice I saw in similar threads, but this seems to be a different problem. I have also tried reconverting the files and sending again.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite with the firmware version 5.6.1.1.

I would be very grateful for any help with this frustrating issue that just popped up today.
