Conversion Issue
I have a Kindle Voyage and I want to put a book on it. I downloaded the book and it is in EPUB format. This book includes title, page numbers, etc.. I used Calibre to convert it to AZW3 format and I chose Kindle Voyage for page layout. So, Calibre converted it from EPUB to AZW3. Next, I connect the Voyage to my computer, I copied the AZW3 book to Voyage. Next, I unplugged the Voyage and found the book on the Voyage. I noticed the book was missing the cover image and as I went into the book to start reading it, the words and sentences were all on top of each other and it was impossible to read.
I went back and plugged in the Voyage and deleted the book. I noticed that on the Voyage, you have the book.AZW3 and a folder associated with the book. Inside this folder is a whole bunch of other files with file extensions. What are all of these other files? Obviously, they have something to do with the book or how the book appears on the Voyage. I noticed the book that I converted using Calibre didn't have these other files associated with the book which is probably why the format and layout on the Voyage was messed up. My goal is to download a book either in EPUB or PDF format and convert it to either AZW3 or MOBi and copy the book to the Voyage so I can read it without any formatting or layout issues. I would like the book to have the proper title, cover, page numbers and layout so it can be read on the Voyage. |

One quick - maybe stupid - question. After copying your book, but before you unplugged your voyage from your computer, did you "eject" the device from in calibre? If you didn't, the azw3 on the voyage might have been corrupted.

Thanks for the reply. Not a stupid question at all. No, I didn't eject it from in Calibre. I ejected it from the computer. Do you think that is what caused corruption?

(assumes you did wait for the 'Safe" message ![]() Calibre may do more than send just the book file. It updates its device snapshot (metadata.calibre) and depending on device model, update the devices bookshelf database |

It is normal for an sdr directory with assorted files to be created by the kindle.
The problem is most likely something in the original ePub causing a conversion problem. I suggest opening the azw3 format produced by the conversion with the calibre e-book reader and see how it look there. |
