Comments Not Showing Up When Sent To Device
I'm using the updated version of Calibre on my desktop, and am sending the epub version of my books to my Galaxy S7 Edge. I use Bookari (used to be Mantano) to organize and read my books on my Edge.
No matter how I send the epub to my device (Save to Disk, Send to Device, Tethered by USB & Managed by Calibre) the comments section in most of the books meta data is showing up empty. Using Calibre's 'Edit Metadata Individually' I've tried comparing the metadata between a book where the comments to show up and a book whose comments don't show up and except for the descriptive text being different, they appear to be the same. Does anyone know why this is happening? |

Calibre Comments get inserted into the INTERNAL OPF when you use Calibre Send/Save To functions.
Your reader may not refresh its DB. You might ask at the Readers support site |

I should have mentioned this above, but I have also tried deleted all the books and the folder from the device, uninstalling and reinstalling the Bookari software and setting up a brand new folder for Calibre to send the books to -- and I'm still having the same problem

Apparently it's because calibre always stores Comments as HTML and Bookari only supports (wrongly) plain text in the internal OPF <dc:description> field.
There is another recent thread about this but I can't remember which subforum it was in. Someone (I think it was Terisa de morgan) has created a utility to assist in converting the HTML Comments to plain text. I also use Bookari to read books but I totally ignore it's library facilities because the Calibre Companion Android app is superior in every way for these purposes. Needless to say, Calibre Companion does not have the above problem with Comments. |

This is the plugin. Whether it's a solution to your particular problem I'm not sure.
