Managing Books with mp3

Hi, I'm new to calibre...

I have a collection of music books with mp3 examples...not audiobooks, but a pdf or similar with mp3 in a same directorios related to the content in the book (ex, a instructional scale books with the mp3 examples in the same dir)

I dont want to bundle all in a pdf file, just mantain the structure of book +mp3 in the same dir...

Its possible to catalog that way in Calibre? How to do that?

Calibre allows one of any particular file type to be stored against a book entry. In your example you could therefore store a .mp3 file as well as a .pdf file against a book entry.

Calibre will rename the mp3 file when it adds it to the library so that any link to it from the PDF will no longer function.

Calibre isn't well suited to media that are composed of more than a single file. You can put all of the files into an archive and then add the archive file to calibre, but if you do this you will need to extract things out again to actually make use of them. Avoid using the .zip extension, since calibre expects a zipped e-book in that case.

Media File Importer: Mixed Media Types Simultaneously

@solrach:

See the plug-in "Media File Importer".

For details about how you can use MFI to do what you indicated, see:

@solrach - if you are using Windows then you could try this:
  • create a Windows shortcut (i.e. a .LNK file) on your desktop that 'points to' the directory where the PDF and MP3s are located .
  • drag/drop the .LNK file into the calibre book list, this will create an entry in the library with the .LNK file in the book folder. Don't try to add it via Add Books, if you do Windows actions the LNK file.
  • when you View the LNK file or click it in Book Details the directory will open in Windows/File explorer.
  • no need to retain the .LNK file on the desktop, calibre has its own copy
This might work on OS/X with Alias files, which are Apple's approximation of Windows' Shortcut (.LNK) files.
