Need help turning my SO-PW3 into a display for Weatherstats

Hi there,

I want to use my SO-PW3 to display my weatherstats from a Netatmo-Weatherstatoin.

Here is an example with a old Kindle (https://www.mobiflip.de/kindl-eink-info-display/).

There is no account for amazon so I don´t see the specialoffer-adds right now.

The SO-PW3 was downgraded and then jailbroken and I did a manual update to FW:update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_5.8.1
KUAL, Helper, USBNetwork, Online-Screensaver, ScreenSavers-Hacks are installed and working.
kual-helper-0.5.N "installed" but no clue how to use it or no menupoint in kual.

I want to disable the screensaver/standby to display a webpage all the time (with html-refresh). ~ds or ;debugOn -> ~disableScreensaver -> ;debugOff didn´t work (maybe specialoffer causes this problem?)

Our screensaver add-in does not work on a S.O. device, by design.
In the Kindle's, Amazon account, disable the Special Offers feature.

there are some guides out there for kindle weather stations that don't use the web browser, instead they just write the image to the screen.
i imagine you would be able to do that, whilst retaining your special offers.

i saw it allready but i want to display a clock with seconds (js).

now i want to start the beta-browser in fullscreenmode (with weblaunch). But i only get an error message ->

Wasn't aware of WebLaunch, but its heavy dependency on pillow stuff probably means it can be added to the pile of stuff broken since FW 5.6.5 .

But it might be possible to downgrade it to 5.6.1.1 (if it doesn't boot-loop in the process).

One can always overwrite the eink display as long as the Kindle is not suspended. Anyhow it would be a quite expensive display.
I don't think that Amazon cares as long as the device is not used for reading - currently only interesting books are promoted. If they'd show special offers, Cyber Monday etc. it may be a different thing.
I'll try to use the native Go code when I find some time. Keeping SO enabled and showing the whether info on demand.

One can always overwrite the eink display, suspended or not.

SSH into a suspended kindle and play a movie with gmplay -- it works just fine, even while suspended.

Any native mode app can do that -- it can even sleep and update the display peiodically in a loop whenever it awakes to update the display (even while suspended).

I can connect with putty but the root-passwords i generated with kindletool don´t work.

Do you have a link or a howto? Or must I just follow these instructions to downgrade it? But where can I find the Firmware 5.6.1.1 and can I easily update from 5.4.2 to 5.6.1.1?

Password to the 'main' operating system has been disabled, well, like in forever on a PW3.
The passwords you are generating are for the 'diags' operating system.

Use ssh or telnet over USB cable, no passwords required.
If you simply must ssh in over Wifi, use pub-key authentication.

Your Kindle is running 5.4.2? Then it is not a PW-3.
Use the device's serial number and our model number table to find out it's proper nickname here.

No, that thread is for a PW-2 and it is not maintained.
