Dauntless by Dina L. Sleiman is the 1st novel in her Valiant Hearts series of YA historical action adventures with f/m romantic elements starring heroines based on medieval hero archetypes (apparently there's a Knights Templar one upcoming), this installment setting a baron's daughter up as the Robin Hood-like leader of a merry outcast band after her father's disgrace, free courtesy of Christian publisher Baker's Bethany House.

Currently free as one of their recent rotation of long-term introductory 1st-in-series offers @ B&N, Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), & ChristianBook (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide).

A bit by default, but I approve of making YA action adventures based on genderflipped heroic historical role models. Though, I'm not sure whether or not to hope that there'll eventually be an unflipped Joan of Arc one down the line (minus Gilles de Rais), considering what happened to her. Aside from that, it does look like a nice concept and hopefully they will get to some of the more obscurely interesting medieval heroic icons as the series goes on.
