ADE download E_LIC_CONNECT_ERROR
I just attempted to download three books using the ASCM stub, first to Adobe Digital Editions and when that didn't work I also tried with the Sony Reader software. In ADE I at least got an error message. Thinking I might need a newer version of ADE I downloaded the latest (4.5 something, I think) but still no dice. Until this download I have never had any problems using this. I also thought I might need to reconfirm my ADE software (recently did a Win 8.1 to 10 upgrade) but it stated that it was a valid edition.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is any solution available. Also, how can I downgrade my ADE version back to 2.1? Edit: The title should say _PROBLEM not _ERROR Last edited by Kumabjorn; 07-16-2016 at 10:46 PM. |

There was a similar problem with ADE just a few days ago. Then someone fixed it, but apparently it's back.

You really made a major mistake. You do not want to go past 2.0.1. But the best thing you can try is to uninstall ADE and then install the 2.0.1 version. I don't know if you need to unregister what you have. You might have to go into the registry (using Regedit) to remove all traces of the new version before installing 2.0.1.

Ignore the tone of the previous post. You did not make ".... a really major mistake.". The newer versions of ADE have a capability for a new version of DRM that hasn't been cracked (not least because it's never been seen in actual public use yet). If you want to be able to remove DRM and back up your books it's likely worth downgrading to avoid potential issues in the future. If you're a read once and don't care about the book after that, it probably doesn't matter.

For the curious.
I left the ACSM tokens in my download folder, dragged them into ADE 2.0 today and they downloaded fine. I have to assume that Adobe had some server problem. If that is the case they should have some sort of HP for emergency messages. Twitter is to communications as haiku is to literature. |
