multiple titles

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is a way to add multiple titles to a book in Calibre?

I've got quite a few books (antology) that contains a few differents books from a serie and i would like to be able to mark each of the titles contained in the book so that i can find them in search

I dont want to split the book into multiple book, nor duplicating the book file

thanks

Personally, I merely add a list of the contents of anthologies and other collections in the Comments field. A simple search for, say, "Null ABC" will then find a standalone book and/or an anthology like "The Complete Works of H. Beam Piper".

An alternate way:
EPUB Split (the PI), but that will take some additional Metadata work

If you are OCD about documenting the contents of an Anthology, you also want Authors

My personal way is to set the {authors} to the Editor_name (ed), or Various if it is not clear who it is.
THEN
I place a list of the perps in a custom Authors-type column (I also use this column for the authors REAL NAME, when the book is written under a pen name

Adjust Preferences: Searching (near the bottom)
to make searches to look in both places

For anthologies, omnibuses, etc. I use a custom tag-like field called "Contents" that stores the individual titles.

The drawback is that you need to strip out commas from the titles so Calibre can parse them correctly, so sometimes the title in the Comments field isn't technically identical to the real title.

The benefit is that you can see the titles in the Tag Browser.

If you use my solution, you see the contributing authors in the tag browser just like the other authors wth the added benefit of no comma-less fuss

And that works great for anthologies where there are multiple authors.

But you'll notice the OP mentioned "a few books from a serie" (sp) which suggests to me he's talking about an omnibus even though he used the word "anthology." It could be the case that most of the books he's talking about only have one author.

I like the idea of using a custom column for contributing authors, and I might adopt that method myself, but that doesn't answer the original question, which is about being able to search for the individual titles.

That would require another custom tag style column (and corresponding added load on the db) for the included titles. Personally, I like my simple method adding "contents" text to the Comments field which allows searches for both an anthologies' or collections' included titles and, if I add the authors as well, their authors. It doesn't provide a tag interface, but a simple search works well. I've used it for years.

That's a reasonable way of doing it too, assuming you know what you're searching on.

I'm more a "show me a list and let me pick" kind of guy, so I like everything in the tag browser.
