Update Sigil Icon

The Sigil Windows icon is a really dark 'S' on a black background. On my computer, it is almost invisible, since I use a black toolbar, and a dark desktop screen. All it needs is more contrast. To see what I mean, add it to a toolbar and make that toolbar black.
On a toolbar, there is no writing, so it is very difficult to see.

If someone were to donate a new, Sigil icon (very similar to the current one, and preferably a high quality SVG), we would certainly consider including it. No promises though. I don't think we'd be interested in a wholesale rebranding (or a wildly different color scheme), either.

I personally have no image editing/creating skills -- nor the inclination to attempt such a thing, quite frankly.

The Sigil icon isn't the only one that will have problems with shotsky's choice of colour scheme. Perhaps THAT'S the design decision that should be reconsidered?

The Sigil Icon is a Subset of the Sigil Name (on Help About), Trademark?

I am all for different (contrasting) color options, but NOT for a style change.

I find it disquieting when an old time Trademark does a radical change.

Small changes to better reflect the product

Heinz lost the 57
Mickey D's still has a variation of the arches
BofA Ship got lost

...

BTW, the sigil_round.svg icon worked okay but the sigil_square.svg rectangle was completely broken on my machine. It was missing the svg namespace declaration and its clipPath setting were actually wrong which prevents the "S" from being drawn in white to the screen in the middle of the red square with rounded corners.

Once I added the namespace and commented out references to the clip-path around each of the shadow and the white S paths, (and their corresponding closing g tags), it all appeared nicely.

Is anyone else seeing this issue? I tried with chrome, FireFox and Safari and all showed the problem with sigil_square.svg icon.

It didn't work on my Windows machine either. I've attached another version from this older Numix github repo.

I understand the issue with the icon, I have the same if my background is mostly black (which it is...). Then again, the round and square icons I really don't like. It doesn't fit with Sigil in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm not really interested in a drastic change from the current icon myself. Perhaps a thin lighter colored outline around the existing icon would serve to provide enough contrast against dark backgrounds?

It doesn't bother me, even tho' I can barely see it on a dark grey task bar. It's parked at Win+7, and if it didn't have a permanent slot, I would use Win+Tab+arrow key.

More than 1 version of an Icon can be embedded in the EXE

I have the same issue as BR, dark taskbar

I would love to be able to choose a Version with:
a White outline
The Letters in White, with the Maroon borders

I don't think messing with a background is the way to go (eg the circle)
All the icons on my W10 desktop have transparent backgrounds

(and some of those are from W98 era apps)

Actually, it IS the only icon that is a problem. I have over 100 and the thing that is most common with them is that they all have at least 2 colors.

I changed the contrast a little with IrfanView and saved it as .ico. It is enough for me. Attached.
