People with Jailbreak, how often do you update firmware?
Or do you stay without updating in fear of having to reinstall the extensions?
It's time consuming to have to install them again, so do you only update when there are major changes? |

Reinstalling stuff is quick enough now with MRPI.

Now that I finally have my Voyage jail breaked, I will never turn wifi on. It's not out of fear. It's out of the attitude, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I like it the way it is and have no need of any official updates. I d/l all Kindle books to my PC, edit them, convert to azw3, and side load.

(I.E: It isn't time consuming any longer.) Anything installed by un-packing an archive is not effected by an Amazon update (such as KUAL and MrPI). There are only two groups of decision making: "Bragging Rights" : Always install most recent update, on first day. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." : Leave it alone if it is working. Or, in the case of Amazon Kindles, a third - toe the company line: "I only own the device, Amazon still owns the behavior" : Let them do whatever they will without my knowledge or approval with a forced OTA update. |

I have a paperwhite 2 and upgrade as soon as I hear that the jailbreak survives the upgrade.

The latest jailbreak survives all known updates.
![]() That said, my Kindle Touch hasn't been updated for the last couple point releases. As was suggested above -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Even if I can just reinstall my hacks, it is still an unnecessary pain to redownload and install them all. It is a complete waste of a few minutes. ... I use the update.bin.tmp.partial/ trick. |

I'm like Just_Jeepin, as soon as I hear that the jailbreak survives the update, I update.
