Do not resize the cover
Hi all,
once upon a time I've found a way to block the resize of the cover in the book viewer but now I cannot find it. I would like to set some option in order that when I maximise the book viewer the cover it is not streched to fill all the window. Could someone help me pls. Thanks Leo |

The size of the cover is controlled by the book not the viewer for EPUB. For other formats, you can control it, but I am guessing you are talking about epub.

I think the OP is talking about how when you open a book in Calibre's ebook viewer, the cover is resized to fit the window (or half the window in 2-page mode). This automatically changes its aspect ratio of the cover, often making it look "squished" horizontally or vertically.
I also find this slightly annoying, but since I rarely spend much time looking at the cover, I just ignore it. If there were an option to preserve the cover image's aspect ratio when the ebook viewer is resized, that would be ideal. I haven't found such an option though. Or maybe I'm not looking in the right place? |

As I said, that is not something in the viewer's control for EPUB. For other formats, you can do it -- there was never an option for it, but it involves a simple one line patch to the calibre source code.

So if I understand correctly, if a book used this option when converting to Epub (or an equivalent option if the epub was not created using Calibre), then when resizing the viewer the cover aspect ratio will be preserved. Otherwise, it will not. Correct? If only I'd known about this option before converting my 3,000-book library. ![]() Anyone know of an easy way to set this option quickly in all my books without having to reconvert? |

I think if you use Polish Book to embed/update covers, it will respect your current conversion setting for Preserve Aspect Ratio.
