ePub to Mobi hangs on parsing manglecase.css
Hello!
This is the first time I've had a problem converting anything. It's a ePub book I'm trying to convert to MOBI format. It hangs at 67% and won't finish. The settings are all kept as is. I'm on Windows 7 Thank you! Nancy LOG Spoiler:

Just let it run, pathological conversion have been known to take up to 48 hours

Thanks for the info. Sorry for uploading the book. Your directions said to do so and I'm new at this. I could have done without the harsh reply from your moderator. You might want to have him look over guideline #1:

@nanrector: Dont worry about it, it's a perfectly understandable mistake to make. Ignore HarryT, he does not speak for all of us. If you want to upload a copyrighted book for debugging, use the calibre bug report site for that, as described here: http://calibre-ebook.com/bugs

 wow... It is not exactly uncommon for new members (and people who posted here once, several years ago) to make this mistake. Not everyone stops to think about copyright issues before asking for help, and while I agree they should, in an optimal world, the fact is, people don't. That may be thoughtless, but apparently it is a rather common form of thoughtless, which is hardly grounds for idiocy... Everyone deserves the right to make this mistake once. That is why, generally speaking, when they do, a moderator deletes the attachment, points out the rule, and politely but firmly says something along the lines of "don't do this again. Deliberate flaunting of the rules is grounds for an immediate and permanent ban, so consider this your official warning". ... Someone really woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning... |

Instructions / suggestions INLINE the topics, do not override the overall board GUIDELINES (link at the bottom of all pages) You usually get 1 chance, because so many folk have gotten used to just clicking thru those massive  EULA that appear at almost every turn.Those public reminders are not just for you, it reminds those others, to consider before they post publicly. |

OK I lied... this is nanrector and I came back as I needed to check replies and respond to those who remarked kindly. (My account had been blocked, so I couldn't reply using it.I used one for my husband.) Thank you for offsetting the other less than kind remark. I usually blow those off but when a mod does it its a bit more offensive. One things for sure... I'll never make that mistake again. :-P

Profile title: "Registered user" Banned/Suspended is what it says in either of those cases -- which IMHO you didn't qualify for...  Not that there is necessarily a problem with using your own account, rather than sharing one with your husband.... Anyway, as Kovid says, just give the conversion some time. Books with horribly complex markup have been known to take enormous amounts of time, I believe the record is two straight days... And if you are still having an issue, or it crashes entirely, you can submit the book for debugging purposes on the bugtracker. It has a "Private bug" setting for just this purpose (bug reports with copyrighted or deeply personal information). Conversions don't "hang", there are only three statuses really and 67% is where most of the work is done. Always wait for a crash or a failure, or else assume it is still working.  Using a 64-bit computer with 64-bit calibre and lots of RAM can help things... a lot. |
