error connecting with device

I have been unable to connect to my Nexus 9 since the Calibre 2.40 release. It was working prior to that. My old Kindle 2 device still works however.

error indicates it could not upload driveinfo.calibre, yet the file does exist with the current date/time on my device. If I delete the file from my device and attempt to connect again, calibre starts using a significant amount of cpu usage (16%) and the memory usage grows (1Gig, 2Gig, 3Gig, ...) until a crash occurs.

OS: Kubuntu Linux

calibre, version 2.41.0

That's an error writing to a file on the device, try rebooting your device, and also make sure it is not screen locked.

No joy

It still does not work. There are 2 failure modes

1. Manually delete driveinfo.calibre from device. Calibre connects to device but then suffers from a memory leak which eventually consumes all system memory before crashing. The Calibre Jobs window shows it is "Reading ebook metadata" from the device.
Incidentally a deviceinfo.calibre file is created on the device.

2. Connect to device with deviceinfo.calibre file. This fails with the error I previosuly listed about not being able to write the deviceinfo.calibre file. Which is true because the timestamp of the file in the device is not updated.

All this was done while the device screen was not locked.

I should also note that I have no problems reading/writing files on the device using the pcs' file manager.

Delete the deviceinfo file manually or reset the device. There were no changes to device interaction in 2.40 (2.41 includes an updated version of libmtp). But, feel free to downgrade to a previous calibre release if you like instructions are on the calibre download page, although I highly doubt that will make a difference.
