Is it possible to clone 2 Glo HD's ? (calibre ? )

I don't know if there is a program for it or Calibre can do this, but is it possible to clone the contents of 2 identical Glo Hd's ?

I have 2 devices, one for upstairs, one for downstairs/hospital.
When I copy the content of the "drive" of device a to device b, including the databases, it must be possible to continue reading on device b, where I ended on device a ?? ( and vice versa)

Am I right or wrong ??
I only use sideloaded epubs/kepubs without drm.
A script or plugin for Calibre would be great but as far as I know calibre can't handle 2 devices connected at the same time ?

Anyone suggestions about how to do this the most simple way ?

If you are a windows user, robocopy, which ships with more recent versions of windows, might be of interest, though I never used it myself. See there for a description.

I use the following trick: I let Calibre show the contents of the 1. device, and assign a specific tag such as “device1“ to all books displayed. Later on, I plug in the second device and sort the books in Calibre according to the assigned tag, any copy all of them to the device.
However, the configuration files are evidently not copied, so that I can't go on reading on the second device from where I ended on the first one.
But, for such a synchronisation (annotstions, reading status, aso) I guess you could use the sync feature on both devices.

Thank you, I will !! Maybe it is something that can be build into a later version of Calibre, I think there are much more people with more then one device.
I do use the reading list plug in, but that doesn't totally sync it.

For the device 1 and device 2 you have the reading list plugin as told in the reply to tshering ( https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=134856) , you plug in device one, mark them all with the reading list plugin which can do a sync.
But the synchronisation of that plug in doesn't include databases.
The sync option on the device itself doesn't sync sideloaded books,so also doesn't sync annotations and reading status of the 2 devices, not even when they both share the same Kobo account.

Koreader now has a "Progress Sync" feature It can work between two Kobos, using Koreader as easily as between all other devices running Koreader (Kindles, Kobos, Pocketbooks, and/or Android devices)

Luck;

I know, but I find myself not specialist enough to switch to koreader and I don't know if the new build in watchdog that resets the device when nickel is no longer running will kick in when koreader is running in stead of the normal reader, it is to complicated to run, I do respect and understand your preference to run koreader, but it isn't what I want to do.

My approach is to create a Reading List that contains all books on Kobo A, then use Kobo Utilities to store the reading position in each book; then attach Kobo B and transfer all books on the reading list, and finally using KU restore the reading positions

As a starting point, read the help. In the top right of each dialog in the plugin is a help link. Click that to display the help. For anything that isn't clear, I suggest you ask in the plugin's thread.

I was hoping that there was maybe a step by step explanation only for this function.
I am reading the topic and it is from 2013 and has a lot inside that tells nothing about this function. (maybe i didn't read enough pages to find that, thats possible)
I downloaded the "help epub" and am busy with it,but help is something different then examples.
For sure I can leave this topic and go to another one to ask help but I tried to keep it a bit centralized as I am now subscribed to about 15 topics with 15 different questions.
It is not that I don't want to figure it out myself,it is not that I don't want to read about it but most of the time a plugin start with one function, then another comes by,then another and before you know it,it is one large topic, with a lot of oneliners and off topic things which is no problem if you follow the topic, but almost impossible when you just jump in.

So without want to be unfriendly because I also know you do a hell of a job, whats wrong with asking for an example here, if no one want to reply then it is ok to me,but maybe just one person can give a simple example and then it is ready, just to help me on the way..
It has nothing to do with unwilling or disrespect, but I am dyslectic and often lost in topics where people that are a lot further in programming and structure of the Kobo and the so many functions and plugins, who use terms they perfectly understand but i don't ?

As long as both readers already have the same files in the same places [and in case of DRM, are authorized to the same adobeid], just copying the KoboReader.sqlite should work fine.

Nick: The help has everything you need. For more, the plugins thread has it. There has been a lot of discussion on this function. Exactly where in the thread, I don't know for sure. But, if you look at the version history in the first post, you should be able to find when it was added or changed. Look for posts at around that time. In this case, the last major change was for version 2.0.

Asking me to give simple examples is a bit pointless. What I consider to be simple is different to what you or anyone else here thinks is simple. To my mind, what is in the help is as simple as is needed. If it isn't, then the guidance has to come from the people reading it and having problems. Try and follow it, ask questions about what you don't understand or what doesn't work. I. or someone else will answer. And if I can work out a better way to express it, I'll update the help. I have had very little feedback on the help, so I have to assume it is perfect and useful. The alternative is to assume that no one has read it. And of course I know that wouldn't be the case.

Posting here is great for you. It cuts down on the threads you need to monitor. But, it doesn't help anyone else. Multiple threads all over the place does not help anyone who needs the help later. And it means that those who are trying to answer the questions have to follow lots of threads.
