Calibre and OneDrive Windows 10
I store all by ebooks on OneDrive as I have a surface with limited space.
In Windows 8.1 there were placeholders for the files which once set up worked great with Calibre, but these no longer exist in Windows 10 ![]() Is there any way to use an online library with Calibre that anyone knows about? Thanks! |

calibre does not support networked drives. I don't know how OneDrive placeholders work, but I would be hesitant to rely on them for a program that needs full filesystem control over the entire library folder.

@vaderag - what he said, but here's a workaround that claims to restore OD placeholder functionality in Win10, OneDrive placeholders are gone in Windows 10, here's how to get them back Use at you're own risk, I have NOT used it Using calibre against library stored on a 'live' cloud drive is not supported, yes it may work today, but no guarantees it will work tomorrow. That "workaround" is merely resorting to using a highly traditional networked drive!

If your Surface has such limited space you would probably be better off getting a decent sized USB stick or MicroSD card, installing Calibre Portable to the Stick/Card and then moving your library to there. If you're worried about losing the USB stick get the MicroSD card and just leave it in the reader slot all the time.

or split the library into two - a current books libnrary and an archive
keep only the small current one on device. keep the larger on in cloud and/ or on removable storage. calibre has all the tools you needed to move books between libraries. but nowadays a 32Gb USB3 stick is so cheap, just buy two; one for live, one for backup & be done. i doubt your library is >32Gb ? |
