Copy column settings from one library to another?
I have calibre configured with multiple libraries. Is there a way to copy the column settings from one library to another? Or have views based on some sort of template?

Quote:
The simple ![]() Viewing the desired source Library> Right-click the Library Icon: Switch/Create: Create an Empty at New Location: TICK the Copy Structure box Once done. You can copy books from the OLD (the one without the settings) library. Select books: Right-click: Copy to Library Note this trick will not work if there are additional fields (w/settings) in the OLD Library (you can not combine settings). Only the field will merge (with your approval) |

@badbob001 - and there's also the calibredb clone command line option. It will create an empty library with same columns and virtual libraries as the 'current' library

Or if you already have multiple established libraries that you want to have the same columns you can use the Copy To Library option.
In the library with the columns you want to duplicate, right-click on a book, go to Copy To Library, then choose the library you want to duplicate the columns in. Calibre will then ask you if you want to copy over columns that do not exist in the destination library. You can select which ones you want and Calibre will create those columns in the destination library. You can then go into the destination library and delete the copy of the book you just duplicated. The columns will remain. *Do not select the Delete After Copy option unless you want to actually move the book and not just duplicate it temporarily. |
