Display books in the library
Hello,
I use a reding "pocketbook touch lux 2" to read my e-books. I always use the calibre's translator to format my ebooks to always have the same format : "name, first name - Title". In the library of my reader, ebooks should appear in directories by author, by title. However, some appear as name, first name - title instead of the title only. Example : Loti, Pierre - Ramuntcho instead of Ramuntcho. I can't find where this parameter is in the ebook to solve this problem. Can you help me ? Have a nice day |

Look at those problem titles Metadata in Calibre.
Is the Title and Author fields shown perfectly? Is the Author Sort value also correct ? (if you have fully configured Calibre for your style of Author_sort, that should show with a green background) The Quality check plugin has tools to check the 'sorts' in your entire library. It also has a Fix section that can flip Author names in SELECTED BOOKS |

Thanks for your help, theducks.
Yes, the title an author fields are shown perfectly and the author sort is correct (all fields are in green). I saw no difference between the books that are displayed correctly and the other. |

You might try to use Calibre's 'Polish' feature to update the books internal metadata.
Calibre Send to device should have updated this ON THE COPY sent. If you used the OS to copy direct from the Library folder, Polish is the only way to force an update (made after a conversion) |

BR
Whatever template the OP had, it should have been consistently (right or wrong ![]() I can't think of a Calibre setting that would randomize the results |

Hello all,
sorry for the delay in the response. BR : the template is set correctly and I haven't made any change in it since a long, long time (I checked before answering, we never know ![]() Effectively, I use the OS (Linux or Seven) to copy direct from the Library folder, so I will try with option Polish as you say theducks and I'll tell you the result soon. Thanks for your help ![]() edit : I've try Polish, but there's no change in the result. Have a nice we Last edited by korben; 06-20-2015 at 06:13 AM. |

Use either "Send to Device" or "Save to Disk" to export books from Calibre. The title will then be formatted as you expect. Metadata is only actually applied to the book when you export it from the library using one of these methods. |

The books INSIDE the library can have metadata in any state unless you take additional steps.
Calibre does the Metadata update to the transferred copy on the fly. Bypass the Calibre Send... and you see what you are seeing Let Calibre Manage the whole project, not just the GUI |

I'm not sure I understood, or even myself well explained.
I take the start : - I converted my books with Calibre. I use the Save option to save Calibre my books on my hard drive. - The backup directory is always the same and recognized by Calibre. - In this directory, ebooks are consistently named as I want: in a folder by author and named "author - title.epub" - That's when I copy them to my reading light. I then do a sync library reading light so that new books are recognized. - And it is only then that some books are seen by the library as "author - title" and not just "title" in the author's folder. The Sync stuff may be putting older versions back (Which is why folks that synch their library are warned to : Pause synch (Library folder) while calibre is running. Last edited by theducks; 07-13-2015 at 11:19 AM. Reason: removed extra word |

My operation is perhaps strange:
- I record my new ebooks (or those reworked) in a directory that is still empty because I then moved to another which groups them all. So there can not be any confusion between a new and old version of the same ebook (grant me to know the difference between copying and moving ... ![]() In addition, Calibre is configured to back up only the files extension "epub" only, so the converted versions. In French, I would say "j'en perds mon latin" ![]() mtfbwy Last edited by korben; 06-25-2015 at 11:46 AM. |

Have you opened the problem books with Calibre reader and looked to see what the metadata in them show? That may show you the problem.

I checked in the metadata of the Calibre reader: everything appears normally. The problem is only for display in my reader.
