Seveneves by Neal Stephenson - start of a trilogy?

I really like Neal Stephenson but don't like starting a trilogy when only the first book is out. I will have forgotten a lot by the time book 2 comes out.

When I first heard about Seveneves last year i thought I read somewhere it was the start of a new trilogy. Now that it is out, I can find no such reference.

Has anyone read it yet? Does it end or does it have a feel of "part 1"?

I read it. I sure hope not. The first two thirds of the book was pretty good. The last 1/3 was horrible. I won't bother on book two if there is one.

Well thanks for the info.

Do you like his other works? I did see a few reviews that noted some drastic change for the last 1/3 of the book.

Well either way, I guess I will give it a go now.

I didn't think the last third was horrible, but it did feel a bit rushed to me. The first two-thirds were fantastic enough for me to forgive it, though.

I'd not heard anything about it being a trilogy.
