Unhappy New Kobo reader?

I only seem to post here when there is trouble, sorry but recently my Kobo Aura HD died a painful death - the screen just froze and half a bookcover got stuck permanently, it also refused to respond to touch and nothing helped including a hard reset. So, now I'm on the lookout for a new reader. I love the Kobo despite all the trouble I've had with it. I need the largest screen possible so I am looking at the H2O. How good is it, can it be compared to the Aura HD, all I see is that the screen is the same size and so is the rest of it, which would be a relief not having to buy new covers. I need to have the largest screen possibly because of eye problems. Which Kobo reader would you guys recommend?

The Aura H2O screen is slightly better than the HD mostly due to the increased contrast ratio. On a sadder note, the size is slightly different which would likely make a new case a necessity (the Aura H2O is about 3mm taller, 1mm wider and 2mm thinner).

I 2nd all of the above. It's a small but nice step up in screen from the HD.

Oh buggering bugger, so typical that they have just slightly different dimensions so that you're forced to buy new accessories. Oh well, at least good news that the specs seem similar, a H2O it is, are there any decent reader reviews here on how it handles, plus and minus?

Half a bookcover being stuck sounds more like a broken screen than a freeze. Do you have a photo? If so, you can prevent further similar trouble simply by looking after your device more carefully.

The H2O is a lovely device and I do recommend it. I'm not sure whether it takes the exact same cover, you'd have to check that.

Unfortunately, as mentioned above--the sizes are slightly different. I have an Aura HD--ordered a Fintie molded plastic case off of Ebay for it. The seller sent me an H2O case by mistake. My HD fits into the H2O case, but not perfectly. there is a little extra room vertically and I have to pop the HD out of the case in order to plug in the USB/charging cable. I actually ended up deciding to keep the case--aside from the USB cable issue I like it better than the Fintie case (dfferent color) I already had for my HD. It holds the reader snugly, but the reader is much easier to pop in and out of the case. Don't think you could go the other way with the Fintie plastic molded cases though (using an HD case for an H2O).

Now if you have a case with the straps or a "pocket" for the HD, I suspect it would work for the H2O as well.
