double character when encoding as entity

1. Bug: When encoding few characters eg. » « „ “ with » « &bdquo; “ all characters in Book View are double (««).

2. Bug: When edit in Book view (and switching in source view), Sigil converts all entity in plain characters (double!).

OS: Siduction amd64, Debian GNU/Linux unstable (sid)
Sigil: Sigil 0.8.6 (Unofficial Sigil Ubuntu-ish binary packages)

I have no idea what you are doing, but I cannot reproduce in my version (0.8.4, Win8.1 64-bit).

What is the source of your Sigil version? What is happening when you build it yourself? I suspect your build is the issue here. Perhaps a QT issue.

I think this is a Linux only bug, similar bug here: Non-breaking space (doubled) bug

1) It's a bug, but it's probably a bug in Debian's libxml2 (Doitsu may be able to help here)
2) See #1 for the doubling part (athough conversion of entities to characters when editing in book view is NOT a bug. That's the way it works on all platforms. Enter the entities you want to preserve in Sigil's Preserve Entities preference.

In the future, please report bugs connected to unofficial binary versions of Sigil in the threads where those unofficial binaries are made available.

I don't think it's similar ... I think it's the very same Debian libxml2 bug. The only workaround I know of is to get a hold of a different (non-buggy) version of libxml2 and place it in the /usr/local/share/sigil directory. The unofficial binary will use the shared library in that location instead of the broken system version.
