Can I get a witness? (To an e-book reader that won't lose your page!!)
Here's my dilemna: every reader I have owned is constantly losing my page and it takes me ages to try and find it again. I'm not even sure how it happens; sometimes when i get back to reading, it is off by a few pages... sometimes by dozens of pages or several chapters!
I am currently using the Sony PRS-600 (with a Sony cover), but the problem of losing the current page has also happened on my Sony PRS-T2 (with Sony cover), and my Kobo Glo (with Kobo sleepcover). I'm either looking for a solution to the PRS-600, or a reader in which *this won't ever happen*. The PRS-600 is hacked, so I was able to disable all touches, and only implement swipes at the bottom of the screen (to turn pages). Doesn't matter, for today during a read, it went back some 200 pages, after I reopened the cover! The Kobo Glo has no buttons to interfere with the sleep cover, and an IR screen, so you'd think it would be immune to losing your page, but not even! Do I really need to go back to a paper-based readermajig, like some sort of caveman, to avoid this problem? |

With the Glo I would disable the sleepcover function, and use the slider to put it to sleep before closing the cover. The problem with the sleepcover is that it touches the screen and turns pages as you open and close it.
I've had my Glo 2 1/2 years and never had a problem with it losing my page. But I don't use a sleepcover. |

This does happen from time to time with the Kindle Keyboard. I think it happens much more to me than my wife Barbara because I use more features, including web and music. And I bring it everywhere, with buttons being randomly pressed as it bounces around. |

Get an iPhone/iPad and use Marvin. It is the best reading app out there! The only downside I have seen is that it only reads ePubs, and it is only on iOS. But it is well worth it!
Cheers, |

I'm on my third Kobo (Touch, Aura HD & Aura H2O) and I can't recall ever losing the page in over three years of reading. I wonder what's causing your difficulties?

Sometimes this happens to me with my Nook Simple Touch. My solution is to bookmark the page before closing my reader's cover.

As GeoffR and ottdmk have said, the Kobo Glo shouldn't be loosing the current position. And GeoffR's suggestion is the only way I can think of for the page to be lost when sleeping if the book is opened. Or at least it is in the current firmware.
If you are closing the book and reopening it, there are a few scenarios: - Sideloading as kepub without proper preparation. You can use the kepub reader simply by changing the extension. But, if you do, the reading position is not stored properly. Reopening a book will usually take you to the start of the current chapter. - Corrupt internal database. The Kobo ereaders all use a database to store information about the books. Unfortunately, this can become corrupt. When that happens, the device shows weird behaviour and not reopening to the correct place is one of them. This is especially noticed if the device is powered off and on. - A couple of firmware versions have had bugs with this. But, they were fixed a while ago, so updating to the latest firmware should fix this. |

I've used a Kobo Aura HD, Kindle Touch, Kindle 3, Kindle 2, Sony 505 and Cybook Opus, reading hundreds of books on each and never had one of them lose my place in a book.
Are these books standard ePubs or "customized" in some way? Last edited by AnemicOak; 05-01-2015 at 02:36 AM. Reason: fixed typo |

I think every ereader has a BOOKMARK option. That would be the first suggestion.
For what it's worth, I've never lost a page on a Kindle Keyboard or Nook ST, but whenever I, or most anybody else, has strange troubles others don't have, it would be a good time to do either a reset or a factory reset. Tends to solve most problems. |

I've never had this happen on any reader I've owned, and that's quite a few.

I only had this happen to me once or twice. And usually when I put my reader to bag without a cover and accidentally open it. Pretty normal, I guess.
There is probably something wrong with your covers, I use this cheap cover: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultra-Slim...item58bdf8d056 |

I have had some ereaders (Cybook, Pocketbook, Sony, Kobo) and none of them have lost the page. With the Kobos I've been using sleep cover... and I don't lose the page either. So, I'm afraid it's not an ereader problem but something you do. I can't imagine what.
BTW: I've used cheap cover, Gecko cover and official Kobo cover... so the quality is not the matter either. |

I've used a number of different Readers and programs. Not a one has ever lost the page I was last reading.
