Troubleshooting The fonts of the Kindle

Hallo.

I got a Kindle 3rd gen (the one like this

)

I need to know in depth the gliphs of the kindle fonts, to know what symbols are available and where in the font table.

Where I can find the original kindle fonts?

The default Kindle system fonts cover the most commonly used Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and CJK characters. There's also a fallback font, code2000, which covers all Unicode 5.2 ranges.

Are there any particular Unicode ranges that you're interested in?

Simply jailbreak your Kindle and install a font hack. This will automatically copy all system fonts to a folder in the partition accessible by USB. For details see the font hack readme.

I'm trying to solve a typographical problem with an ebook, I'm not able to make magicians on the kindle. Is there someone that jailbreaked a kindle and can post the font files on some filesharing service?

The jailbreak and hacking are tremendously easy, just drag and drop a few files. Do it yourself.

Well, believe it or not, and to make short a long story, I cannot do it.

But I know that on this forum there are a lot of good people that can post a file with the kindle fonts on a file sharing service.

So I don't ask anything. I will just search in the next days for that files on the ed2k net and on the bittorrent net. Will I find something good

Well, depending on what fonts are used (I don't know, but I would imagine it is very possible licensed fonts are being used), they might be copyrighted, in which case anyone trying to post them could get permanently banned from MobileRead for flouting copyright (it goes without saying that the upload would be deleted).

Hence I think it would be a good idea to simply perform the simple procedure to extract them yourself, rather than tell us "I'm not able to make magicians".

Google 'unicode test document epub' or just go to this link:

While it is Unicode 5.1 it will let you test to see which glyphs display (after converting to mobi format, of course).
