Looking for a 7 inch (or similar) Android Ereader

Hi

I have 7 inch Android tablet which I like but I am done with lcd ips etc screen stuff I want to just use an Android E-ink tablet.

I would like it to be be high res (I do not want 1200x800 type of res), good battery life. I probably will end up installing Cyanogen mod on it if possible. It would be nice if it comes with recent Android.

I already have Boyue T62 which is great. I use it with Cool Reader FBReader and AlReader. However the battery life is not so good even compared to my 4 times powerful Android tablet. I do not even run much on it. Anyway it is a nice tablet and I like it alot.

One other reason I am not enjoying Boyue as an Android tablet is that I can not switch between apps easily, I have to quit apps to change to another one. I tried different launcher but the bottom drawer does not exist so it is an issue.

About the only Android e-ink tablet I know of is this one, the Onyx Boox T68 Lynx. I don't know a lot about it; I believe there are a couple of owners here on the forums and hopefully one or more will stop by.

Unfortunately, short battery life is pretty much the price of getting Android on an eink tablet. Android is just not optimized for eink - it expects to refresh the page several times a second, which is not how eink works.

AFAIK, there are only 3 Android eink tablets on the market, the 2 Boyue models and the Onyx T68. Both have their problems, look over the forums.

I'd stick with an LCD table for doing tablet-y things, and use a standard eink reader for reading on. I'd only use an eink tablet if I absolutely could not afford both.

Just my two cents.

I have a T1 and it runs some version Android and the battery life is not short. Sorry, but your explanation of a short battery with Android and eInk is incorrect.

For the T62, have you updated to the latest version? My battery life is much better now. When not in use it only uses .2 to .4% battery per hour. I don't have to quit one app to use another so I'm not sure what you are doing there. I use the Button Savior app to get the recent apps button, but even without it you can just use the home button and open another app from there or tap the icon of the app you want to return to. Nova launcher works well for that.

It's pretty flipping obvious, Jon, that khalleron was talking about generic Android tablets, not dedicated devices such as the T1. The fact that the T1 runs Android as its underlying operating system is completely irrelevant to this discussion.
