Organizing eBooks &or Downgrading
I apologize in advance if this in the wrong section or if it has been addressed, but I am new, and cannot exactly find the answers I'm looking for.
First and foremost, I have a Kindle PaperWhite (9017 Serial Number) running firmware 5.6.1.0.2 1. I am pretty unsure if i can downgrade and jailbreak it. I tried downloading old "update" files and then using those (flushed the cache before ejecting device then hard reset and got error 12) TBH I'm not sure I even had the right files... If it's possible to jailbreak it, I would greatly appreciate some pointers and maybe which files I should download etc. I'm a newbie but can follow along pretty well. 2. What is a good recommendation for editing metadata for my ebooks and organizing them on the device. I am currently trying to add books to collections but I have a lot of books and it's become very tedious. TL;DR 1. jailbreak >=5.6.1.0.2 2. Best organization/metadata editor Thanks in advance. |

@thekiddzac-
1- at this time, unless you already have an earlier JB onboard that can be updated, you can not JB or downgrade firmware without opening it up. 2- I can't help here as I don't use collections, sorry. |

Dang. That's what I was afraid of. I'll enjoy it as is and try to get the organization down to my liking, and continue to research and read the forums for now until I feel confident enough to try some funny business with it. Thanks for letting me know @GoSharks

LibrarianSync will only work on JB'ed Kindles.
![]() But calibre will let you normalize metadata and update the ebook files. One incredibly useful tool is plugboards, which allow you to use templates to update metadata fields e.g. adding the calibre series info to the title. It won't help you make collections faster, but it does allow you to do useful stuff like for instance sort by title and have the prepended series info group like books with like. |
