Remind me, please.
Can someone please remind me of how the following Plugin should look.
My old PC died, and I can't find the (very) old post that gave me the coding initially. I'm looking to have setout as follows: {Series Index (needs up to 3 digits} : {Title} : {Series} : Author. *Colons would be included, as shown. Much appreciated. |

Use a dash instead.
{Series Index} - {Title} - {Series} - Author |

Which plugin are you referring to? Surely, if you're talking about modifying the title in a metadata plugboard, there are no issues with using a :

Definitely had Colons separating on my existing Plugboard.
I managed to get this accepted as valid: - {series_index:0>3s|:|}{title:|:|}{series:|:|} |

Yep
![]() Many of us though do find it more useful to use a template like {series:|:|}{series_index:0>3s|:|}{title:|:|} as opposed to {series_index:0>3s|:|}{title:|:|}{series:|:|} This allows a "natural" sorting to be done on the device, since all books in a given series will be arranged in their logical order on the device. |

Cheers, Peter.
In my Collection, though, I have some Series (i.e. Doctor Who, which has almost 150 titles) that are written by various Authors. It's just a preference, so I can see in Order of release THEN the actual Series name. |

Had BR written anything about colons in file names he would have asked the OP which OS was being used, and if the reply was Windows he wouldn't have forgotten to mention the use of the ':' as the separator betwixt file and alternate data stream names - much more interesting than there use wrt to devices ![]() But the reason he didn't ask, was because he noticed the OP had a Kindle, about which BR freely admits he's Sergeant Schultz, but I'm reliably informed that one doesn't see file names in Bezos' walled garden ![]() Happy Christmas ![]() BR Last edited by BetterRed; 12-22-2014 at 04:36 PM. |

I missed the Kindle part.
![]() Kindles do not use filenames for the bookshelf. You need to use the plugboard to fiddle the 'title' |

I am grateful for all responses (although I'm a little lost with the latter Duck references).
How can I mark this thread for closure? |
