Duane & Morwood are also holding a 50% off Cyber Monday sale on all their backlist e-books (available DRM-free worldwide, mostly in ePub/Mobi bundles; be a little careful when selecting your formats in the dropdown to get the bundle rather than the single format choice when offered), with an automatic discount, no coupon necessary, until 1 minute before midnight Hawaiian time today on Dec 2nd, which is apparently in just over 6 hours.

According to the News thread posted as a heads-up by MR member Little.Egret, starting in January Duane & Morwood will probably have to start charging more VAT for UK customers, and may even have to shut their direct-sale webstore down due to the regulation changes if they can no longer afford to keep it if collecting and keeping track of the extra VAT and sending it to the proper authorities cuts into their revenue too much due to the additional bookkeeping cost and other complications.

So if there's anything of theirs which you might have wanted to get, now would seem to be a good time to get it. For the next 6 hours or so.

Anyway, the freebie cookbook is available for the next little while @ its dedicated webstore page here. And there are a bunch of other freebies offered (usually long-term freebie promo short pieces) on the freebie page here as well.

I apologize for the very short notice, but I didn't even know that they were holding a sale, much less giving away a freebie, until I saw the News thread and followed the links (they say I'm subscribed to their ebookstore newsletter, why won't they send me news about the ebookstore?! ).

They have a new store site since last I purchased, and now you have the option of creating a login that saves your past purchase info. You still do only get 10 download tries with the option to contact them if something goes really wrong, but I have to say that I just did a panic backup redownload of my oldest purchase from them, way back in the middle of 2011, and the original link supplied in the original email worked just fine, which is kind of impressive, given how many ebookstores have fallen and died since then.

And this has been the (advance) 3rd select (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because Diane Duane is one of my favourite science fiction/fantasy authors, and I've bought a lot of her stuff both traditionally and directly over the years, and I hope that she'll be able to continue operating her webstore and direct-selling to her now and future fans.

And now I needs must go through the catalogue pages to figure out if there's anything I don't already have that I should be picking up.

While this kind of bodes ominously for the future of her direct-buy webstore, at least it gives you time to consider anything you might need to sample first and grab it while it's still available for sale if you decide in favour?
