I bought my wife a kindle paperwhite in june of this year (2014). worked great for awhile but now when I try to charge it(usb to pc) the amber light stays amber for about 7 or 8 seconds and then turns green. batt is not charged even if I let it charge overnight.
has anyone here encountered this problem? any and all suggestions will be appreciated... thank you bob m. |

1st suggestion would be to try a different USB cable, such as a cable that you use to charge a phone.

.... yes, a different cable, and I'd use a wall charger rather than charging via USB.

If you're charging from a usb port, also try a different port. Last, but not least, if none of this helps contact Kindle support on Amazon. They will help you fix it or make it right.

id buy the offical charger think its the power fast ?? ( even though ive read u can use other chargers , i wouldnt risk my kindle with a phone chager . )
i just think its to risky and it my take longer as its being trickle charged also it could melt the plug or fry the kindle. i know £17.99 is a lot but its worth it (btw think my dad being an electrician and pats tested certificated ( yep also re wired the wittiker channel tunnel mache lol) tested this out , it was very messy and sad ending as kindle and phone charger were fried . plug was physically melted to wall socket! ) just thought id mention it Last edited by sian; 12-03-2014 at 08:12 PM. |

real USB ports are power limited to 500mA and can shut down if the load is not smart enough to shed the big drain (charging)
You need a USB style charger with a 1 to 2Amp port. BTW some of the cheaper ones will charge your device, BUT also emit enough EMI that wireless devices (phones, WiFi) have 'reliable' connection issues. Turn on a Radio (playing a station) in the room. Now plug in the charger. If you notice, you got problems ![]() |
