Calibre incompatability?
I just got the message below in Calibre, ver 2.7 (64bit). My Glo is 3.11. Is there a later Calibre version I should have?
(The message appeared when I opened the Manage Collections window, and then clicked OK.)

Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As calibre does not know about this updated firmware, database editing is disabled, to prevent corruption. You can still send books to your Kobo with calibre, but deleting books and managing collections is disabled. If you are willing to experiment and know how to reset your Kobo to Factory defaults, you can override this check by right clicking the device icon in calibre and selecting "Configure this device" and then the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option. Doing so may require you to perform a factory reset of your Kobo.

No issues at all. Just select the option to "Attempt to support newer firmware" in the driver configuration menu.

However I am confused as 2.7 DOES support 3.11. What is the "Manage Collections" window?

When I right-click on a book in the library in Calibre, I get a window that has options like View, Save to disk... and further down, Manage collections. When I click on Manage collections I get a window headed Category editor. When I click on OK, without changing anything, I get the message listed above.

BTW where is the driver configuration menu?

I'll have a look at why you got that error, but that window doesn't do anything for the Kobo devices.You can play around with it as much as you like, but it doesn't change anything on the device.

To change collections on the device, have a look at Quick Guide to Shelf Management with calibre 0.9.1 & above.

I can't even get that window to appear. I do see a manage collection option available in configure toolbars but I can't seem to get anything to happen with it.

It lists the names of my collections. The only thing I can do is rename them. I can't create a new collection. So I'm going to look at davidfor's suggestion re shelf management.

I get Manage Collections option when I right click on a book either in the Device or Card A view. I don't get one with a right click on a book in the Calibre library. OTOH, the only two options I see when I select Manage Collections are Im_Reading and Read and I don't get an error message when closing the window.

It's ages since I looked at the Manage Collections function, but I think it only tries to do an update if you add or remove a collection. And of course, that doesn't work because it doesn't know how to update collections on a Kobo device.
