Calibre + kobo
Hi all, I searched but found nothing.
I have a series of books of the same author, but the KOBO doesn't consider the right order (written in "series" tag), and they can be sorted by filename or title. Is there a way to rename the filename, with calibre? And, renaming without causing problem both to calibre and KLO library sinchronization? thanks |

Take a look at Quick Guide to Shelf Management with calibre 0.9.1 & above (Touch / Glo / Mini /Aura). While you might not want to create collections, do take a look at the section there on Changing Book Titles to include Series Info.
For more info on that topic see Techniques to use plugboards, custom columns and templates and learn all about Plugboards. You will probably find that the Kobo / calibre integration is as good if not better than any other device supported by calibre thanks to the wizardry of davidfor. |

I've got all the Nancy Drew books in Calibre, and move them over as needed to the Kobo. I changed the titles to be something like "001 Title" to "064 Next Title" to "145 Later Title." That allows them to sort in order when sorting according to title.
Found I needed the leading 0's since there were almost 200 books in the series. Otherwise the ones under 100 didn't sort right. If yours only has 9 books, you won't need those leading 0's. |

Ah, ok. Well .... I understood it was possible to sort books via filename and there was a kind of trick to send ebooks from Calibre to device changing filename.
Is like this ? And so ... how can I rename files from Calibre? On the contrary, if the way to get them ordered is to add a number in the title ... well, I think I only have to change metadata. Is there a way to do it in batch mode? Changing title automatically ? How? thanks again |

Using a plugboard correctly set up in Calibre, it will automatically send all books to your device with the changed filename as you want it. Read the 2nd link above that PeterT provided about plugboard techniques. It'll take only a few minutes to set it up and then never have to worry about it again.
For my Kobo and Sony readers, I have books sent as "Title [#] Series Name". For the Kindle which doesn't sort automatically by collections at all, I prefer to use "Series Name [#] Title" for renaming. Last edited by Ripplinger; 08-13-2015 at 04:23 AM. |
