Cannot email from new Macbook

Trying to move Calibre from my Windows to a new MacBook Pro. Things work just fine. All books are there and readable. But, I cannot send ANY EMAILS from Calibre using the MacBook via my gmail or gxm accounts. I have turned the Firewall off and on, on with Calibre shown as permitted, but still nothing. I can still use the windows computer and Gmail to send books just fine! I must be missing a setting somewhere? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hah, welcome to Macbooks. After a year, mine started the notorious screen peel. And then it suddenly wouldn't check gmail. Nor stream YouTube very well. I found everybody else having this issue too on various forums. Re-formatting the drive didn't fix, nor tweaking my DNS, buying an airport device, nothing.

What finally fixed it was selling that thing and just using a different laptop. Now somebody else can deal with all that.

Can calibre connect to the internet? e.g. does Metadata download, Get plugins, Fetch news, Get books work?

If any of those features work, something is probably blocking email specifically. Go to Preferences ==> Sharing books by email and check your emil settings then click "Test Email".

If it fails (sounds like it will) then post the contents of the log. (Make sure to redact your username and password!

)

If calibre is being generally blocked... do any other programs suffer lack of internet connectivity?

Well guess what - the darn thing just started sending books by gmail! I guess it just needed a little time to start working. As of now Calibre is working perfectly on the MacBook Pro. All in all I cannot see any major operational issue! Thanks for you help!
