Hey there. I know I saw how to do this before but of course .... forgot.
I am wanting to add a new device to be "recognized" by calibre but I don't have the device handy (with my daughter). She handed me a thumb drive with four books on it and I can't get them into calibre to store or convert them. I have peeked around where I thought it was but .... couldn't find it. Any help for this semi-computer literate person would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance~~ ![]() |

You don't have to add a device to store your eBooks. You just add them to Calibre and they get dealt with as need be deepening on the device plugged in at the time.

You can set that up if needed: Preferences: Common Options: Page setup (on left) The device wizard is mainly for preparing images (like covers) |

I just tried that --- tried to add two books and when they were added I received "This book is DRMed Cannot convert" error message for both. I do have apprentice alf and was hoping storing them in my calibre would release this Can I not add from the thumb drive? |

Alf only helps IF you have the required key on your PC.
