What is a Caliber?
What does the caliber have to do with the bullet or the gun? Does a larger caliber mean it will have larger power or wat? Im really confused on this matter

Calibre is the size of the bullet that it shoots.

Since weapons now are generally denominated in millimeters, you will also see the usage 7.7mm caliber, though technically I think that is wrong. Since the bullet or projectile is necessarily the same diameter as the bore of the gun, the usage is interchangeable. When the caliber is more than an half an inch, the term is usually abandoned and only inches or millimeters are used instead. But I suspect that the intention in naming the software was in reference to its caliber as an admirable quality. |

I knew that pronunciation thing... and despite that I've been thinking of the program as "ca libra" all this time. I make no promises of impending change.

Someone should also point out that the "libre" ending of "Calibre" has a double meaning. It means free (as in freedom) but it also shares the same root as the word library.
So Calibre is a quality (calibre) free (libre) library (libre) program. |
