Pinpricks and the WHSmith returns policy

Today I went to WHSmith to look at the Kobo Aura HD. While browsing the other Kobo ereaders, I noticed that most of them had several pinpricks, including the Aura HD. Not a very good advert for the products! You think the sales staff would remove them from display. And this was at their flagship Oxford Street Plaza branch. A Kobo rep should probably visit them.

I'm thinking of getting the Aura HD so this is worrying.

My question to those who purchased from WHSmith, have any of you suffered from pinpricks? If so, how have WHSmith handled the issue? Who did you contact?

I got my Aura HD from Smiths when it first came out and I’ve had no problems at all, so I can’t really help with the returns etc. I’d make sure I ask before buying and ideally open and check while in the store (perhaps under the pretence of getting them to help set it up?)

I purchased a Aura 6 inch from W H Smiths which I later found to have three bright pinpricks. They exchanged it with no problem.

My Smith's Aura HD has one, but it's only noticeable under high frontlight, which I've yet to find any use for, so it doesn't bother me and I haven't tried to exchange it.

If you buy a Kobo Aura HD and it has pinpricks, you should have absolutely no problem returning it to WH Smith for either a replacement or refund. For your own peace of mind you could also use your credit card to buy it, since it gives you more protection, but for an obvious fault like a pinprick, they will replace it for you without any hassles.
