Sigil 0.7.4 delete line with nbsp;!

I do not know how to add new thread, so I try this.
In Sigil v0.7.4 I put a blank line nbsp; 
Sigil change it to # 160; and then delete it!

I just wanted to let Sigil me there   not changed nbsp to the #160

What operating system, and what are the exact steps to reproduce it?

The change to #160 is expected behavior in 0.7.4. The deletion of a line is clearly not.

Doesn't it need the ampersand in front of #?

I'm assuming the & was left out because the forum will actually render the entity if you enter it.

I saw the same problem. Now I have installed 0.72 as I don't want to see blank-lines deleted.

I don't remember exactly what happened.

I saved continously my ebook, I inserted some blank lines, and two or three new sentences. Nothing else. It was late and I was tired. Only a final glimpse in book viewer and I found out no blank spaces among paragraphs!

After that I tested it for a replica of this deletion, but nothing at all... and so It was impossible to post here the problem without any evidence. There is always the idea of a mistake by me, too...

But if someone else has the same "surprise", well, I change my mind.

This why it can be better to use CSS to give you space between paragraphs instead of using blank lines. It can also be much easier to vary the space until you get it just so, since all you have to vary is the css in the stylesheet and presto all the paragraphs are adjusted.

Then you need to use version 0.7.2. There is not a big difference between the two actually.

I did some tests and was able to reproduce the problem on my Windows machine.

1. Open Sigil and select Edit > Preferences > Clean Source: select HTML Tidy, enable the Save check box and disable the Open check box.
2. Insert the following HTML code between two paras in Source View mode:  
3. Switch back to Book View mode and insert or delete a character.
4. Switch back to Code View. You'll see that Sigil 0.7.4 has replaced the non-breaking space with  . (So far so good.)
5. Save the file and close Sigil.
6. Reopen the file. Note that Sigl has replaced   with a regular space.
7. Save the file again.   will be deleted by HTML Tidy, which was to be expected.

tl;dr Sigil 0.7.4 will replace   with a regular space unless the Clean Source Open option (Pretty Print or HTML Tidy) has been enabled.

Please find attached a test file, in which a non-breaking space has been encoded as  . If you open it with the Clean Source Open option disabled, it'll be replaced by a regular space. If the Clean Source Open option is enabled, it'll replaced by  .

I can indeed duplicate that situation in 0.7.4. Thanks.

It certainly qualifies as a bug, but I've always felt that anyone who leaves HTML Tidy (not Pretty Print) turned on does so at the risk of their code getting screwed up at some time or another.

All the more so that this shouldn't ONLY be broken for people who leave it off.
