Hello!
I've had Calibre-Server.exe running as a service on my Windows 7 machine for a while. It provided my opds server needs, but several apps are not compatible with it. Now I am trying to connect to the "Wireless Device Connection" that Calibre provides, but I don't see any method to enable it from "Calibre-Server.exe". If I can get the Wireless Device Connection working, I can use one of the excellent library browsing apps to download my books to my device and choose any reader I like. If I start the Calibre app, I can start the Wireless Device Connection and everything on my Android tablet works as I expect, but when I start the calibre-server.exe service, only the opds connections are there. I am using the Android "Calibre Sync" app on my tablet to test the Wireless Device Connection feature of Calibre. Can the wireless device connection be run WITHOUT having the Calibre app open? The list of Android apps that I have tried to connect to the working Calibre-Server service are: "FBReader" - Works with my current setup, and is my current choice of e-reader apps. I'd like to try more, but so far this is the only one that works. "Aldiko" - Crashes when I try to access my Calibre server opds connection. "MoonReader" - Seem to work with opds connection, but this reader is not optimized for a large tablet. Book shelf is kind of ugly. Asus "My Bookshelf" - Doesn't support network libraries at all. "Ultimate Reader" - Doesn't support opds libraries. "EBook Reader" - Appears to only do a couple of formats, of which 95% of my books don't match. |

I use the Calibre Companion app for both Wireless Device Connection and for connecting to the content server. |

Mantano also has an excellent opds-client that can connect to calibre server.
I save all my books to a folder tree on a NAS and copy them all over to my tablet over wifi using the app FolderSync. Works great, but recent versions of Mantano seems to have problems handling +3k books... |

I think my original issues with using the opds service was that I assigned a new username and a password. It looks like most of the reader apps don't like this.
With the default username and no password I can get most of the ereader software working. I guess I'll just have to forget about putting my Calibre library where I can access it from the internet for now. |

I've downloaded enough apps to know that you really have to dig to find the good stuff. If I paid for everything that I thought might be good, I'd be broke! Thanks! |

No trial version available, but in the past as long as you purchased it through Google Play Chaley has been very flexible with refunds well past the 15 minute mark. The Amazon store does not provide the developer the same flexibility when it comes to refunds.
Basically if you can't get it working or it doesn't suit you he would rather refund your money than have an unsatisfied customer. |
