Unhappy [PROBLEM] Is my K4 a goner? (Thin gray horizontal lines on screen)

Hi, is my K4 a goner? After replacing the battery on my own, upon reassembling the unit I realized these horizontal lines appear on the screen. Please see picture below:

[Image violates guidelines for size - MODERATOR]

For what is worth, I was gentle at removing the rear cover, etc.

Is there something I could do? Goes without saying the the unit is not under warranty, thus contacting Amazon support is not an option

Thanks!!

I'm no expert but it certainly appears that way to me. May I ask why you replaced the battery already? It shouldn't have died this quickly.

The K4 is glued together, right? Perhaps you were a little over-enthusiastic with whatever heat source you used to melt the glue?

I had a bezel, rear cover and mainboard sitting around. I ordered a frame/with screen in hopes I could put together a working Kindle out of all the loose parts. I unglued a battery from another broken Kindle but I ruined it, thus I had to order a second hand battery.

I don't have an answer, but maybe some more information would help someone else diagnose the problem. When the screen is displaying an image, what does it look like there? i.e. are all the greyscale shades there or is it more like black and white? Maybe the video connection isn't seated correctly. Good luck!

Well, I finally took the time to try to reseat the video cable but unfortunately the display behaves the same. I think my K4 is a goner

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Is this the one that you rescued before in this thread?

Was this ever a working Kindle, or was it a collection of parts that you tried to "frankenstein" together?

Even if you've given up on it, don't just throw it away. One of the folks in R&D might still have a use for it as a test bed, instead of a reader, and I know there are several of us with collections of sick Kindles that might be able to do something with it. I mean it HAS to be either the screen or the motherboard; there just AREN'T any more components other than the buttons and the battery.
